ENUM Registration Services

Australian ENUM Trial

Welcome to Instra Corporations ENUM Registry website.

This website was originally created to support the Australian ENUM Trial, which ran from June 2005 to the end of July 2007.

The Australian ENUM Registry was launched On June 6, 2005, and Instra became Australia's first fully accredited ENUM Registrar, enabling us to register and manage ENUM Domains on behalf of interested candidates. During the trial, Instra participated in all 3 phases with the Australian Communications Authority and offered ENUM domains and enhanced services to service providers and end-users. More

What is ENUM all about?

In order to contact a user on an IP network from the PSTN, a global addressing standard is required - a standard that works across both IP networks and PSTN. The answer? ENUM. More

About the Australian ENUM Trial?

The Australian ENUM trial was managed by the Australian Communications Authority (ACA) in consultation with the Australian ENUM Discussion Group, of which Instra remains an active member.

Technically, the Australian ENUM trial operated in much the same way as the .au domain name system. ENUM domains are treated as regular domain names and use the standard domain name system (DNS). ENUM 'pointers' are kept on Instra's name servers, and forward any ENUM communications to the relevant service, such as VoIP phone or email address.   More
